Troop Leadership Training - Troop Leadership Training (TLT) is available for Troop youth leadership.  TLT is a unit-level training session for all new youth leaders.  TLT is designed to introduce the youth leader to leadership and give him the initial skills to be an effective leader.  TLT should be conducted after the election of new Scout leadership.  Adults are encouraged to attend this training in order to see the program in its entirety. For further information on training or to schedule TLT, please contact David Muldowney at david.muldowney@us.army.mil or at 570-345-3021

Every Youth Deserves A Trained Leader

Cub Scout leaders are considered trained when they have completed: This is Scouting Online Training, Youth Protection Online Training, Fast Start Online Training and the Cub Scout Leader Specific Training for their position. The online training should be taken within 48 hours of becoming a leader. We also highly recommend Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation Training (BALOO).

Cub Scout Leader Specific Training is required for the following positions: Tiger Leader, Wolf/Bear Leader/Asst Leader, Webelos Leader/Asst Leader, Cubmaster/Assistant Cubmaster, Pack Committee, and Pack Trainer.

Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters are considered trained when they have completed: "This is Scouting" Online Training (replaced New Leader Essentials), Youth Protection Online Training, Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training, and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills. Troop Committee members are considered trained when they have completed "This Is Scouting" and the Troop Committee Challenge as their Leader Specific Training.

You can take these trainings in other districts within our council or in other councils. Choose the time and place that works best for you. If it has been five or more years since you received your training, we recommend that you retake the training as a refresher course.

Youth Protection Online Training is now valid for two years. If it has been more than two years since you took it, you must refresh that training.

Our goal is every leader 100% trained!

Black Rock District Training

Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training - Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training is one of the requirements a Boy Scout leader must complete to be considered "Trained."  Black Rock District will host this training for the Hawk Mountain Council on February 18 and May 19, 2012. The location for this training will be at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 252 Dock St., Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972

For further information on training or to schedule TLT, please contact David Muldowney at david.muldowney@us.army.mil or at 570-345-3021.

Den Chief Training - The Den Chief is a critical member of the Cub Scout leadership team.  To be successful, a Den Chief must realize how important his job really is to the Pack.  Den Chief Training is intended to build enthusiasm for the job, develop high morals, and teach the skills the Den Chief will need to be successful.

This half day training combines fun and enjoyment with an excellent character building experience.  Participants will learn leadership, organization, and most importantly, how to work with Cub Scouts.  Den Chief Training will be sponsored by the Black Rock District and take place on: April 28, 2012 -

Cub Scout Leader Specific Training - will be offered at Roundtables beginning at 7:00 PM (promptly) and concluding by 9:00 PM. Training at Roundtables is free.  This training is also available at your unit location if you have 5 or more leaders committed to attend from your unit or surrounding units. Contact Kathy Nagle at (570) 606-3270 to schedule a date.

Note for Cub Scout Leaders: If you have already received your basic cub scout leader training and you need to update it for a new position, you only need to attend the training portion for that specific position. You do not need to repeat Part 1 of Cub Scout Specific Leader training (Intro to Cub Scouting and How we have fun).

Roundtables - are held monthly from September through May of each year.
