Year-Round Facility Guide for Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation
The fall, winter, and spring facilities at Hawk Mountain offer both tent camping and lodges. Tent camping is a Scout skill to be enjoyed year round. The lodges, their capacities and cost are listed in the back of the Year-round Leader Guidebook.
Who may use these facilities?
- Boy Scout Troops from inside and outside our council. Troops from outside the Hawk Mountain Council must have a Tour Permit. It will be presented upon arrival and returned upon departure.
- *Webelos Dens.
- *Cub Scout Packs.
- Outside groups. Non-Scouting use of the facility requires a certificate of insurance and a hold harmless agreement.
*Webelos Dens and Cub Scout Packs require that the two (2) primary leaders of the overnight camping experience will have completed:
- Basic Leader Training for their present position,
- Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation, and
- Adult Leader Youth Protection Training.
It is highly recommended that all adults planning to be in attendance complete those training courses. Prior to attending HMSR for a overnight camping experience, a pack representative must complete a local tour permit and a weekend camping reservation form at the Hawk Mountain Council Service Center.
Attendance at these events is limited to registered youth, registered adult leadership, and adults (over 18 years of age) that are accompanying a registered youth member. Additionally, be aware of the need for mandatory separate sleeping facilities for male and female leaders/parents and for cubs/webelos and female leaders/parents. Contact the Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation for further information.
Weekends throughout the year the Weekend Commissioner Corps is on duty. Commissioners assist with check-in and check-out procedures and may offer special program opportunities. Commissioners are available throughout your stay to assist wherever possible in making your unit’s visit successful.
