Getting Started as an Adult BSA Leader

Thank you for s becoming an adult leader.  We rely on great volunteers to deliver our program.  The Hawk Mountain Training Committee is here to support you.

There is a 3 step process to becoming a trained leader.

1.  Complete the Pennsylvania State Clearances requirement.
More information can be found by following the link on the left called PA Background Check.

2. Complete Youth Protection Training.
This can be completed online at my.scouting.or or at a live training listed on the Hawk Mountain Training Calendar.  This must be repeated every 2 years.

3.  Complete training for your position.
Training can be taken online at the BSA Learning Center (my.scouting.org) or training can be completed in person as listed on the Hawk Mountain Training Calendar.  Position training does not need to be repeated.

To be position trained, some leaders who directly deliver the program to youth must also take Hazardous Weather Training under Extended Learning, Program Safety online at the BSA learning center.  The positions requiring weather training are Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters, Cubmasters, Assistant Cubmasters, Venture Crew Advisors, Assistant Venture Crew Advisors.
