I joined scouting as a parent of a Tiger Cub Scout. During my son's wolf year our Cubmaster announced she would be stepping down in March. I saw no other parents willing to step in. I though about scouting, the values and opportunities it offers and the fun my son was having. After speaking with my wife and my son, I stepped in to volunteer as the Cubmaster. I served as Cubmaster for 2 years. During my second year I was fortunate to work with an Assistant Cubmaster, who when I was ready to step down, stepped in and took over as Cubmaster. The transition was seamless.
After Cubmaster I became the Pack Trainer for Pack 457. I figured I could sit back a little. That didn't last long. I continue to serve as the Pack Trainer for the Pack.
I found myself getting more involved with things for the District. A short time later, I became the Unit Commissioner for Pack 457 & Troop 457. I continue to serve as the Unit Commissioner.
My son earned his Arrow of Light and moved from the Pack into the Troop. My son has earned many of his Boy Scouts ranks and is currently a member of Troop 457.
